Heat Wave

Yesterday was the short track and 2 days ago was the xc race in california. After living in boulder and then salt lake and not experiencing temperatures above 80, the deathly heat of Santa Ynez was the worst feeling ever. It was about 95 with wind and 105 with no breeze. So goin up climbs was hotter than magma. So after about a hour or so, I started getting chills which is the first signs of heat stroke, so i finished the lap i was on and called it quits. So that was the XC. Sid won, k-bomb second, Wick nasty third. Sick
Next day, short track. It was a lot better than the xc and was my highest placed pro race yet. I placed 27th and i felt pretty good about it so it was good.
2 people crashed right in front of me at the same place so the second time someone crashed, i got mad. and so i dropped the group i was with on the last lap.
overall pretty good weekend for me,
Now i'm back in boulder.

Santa Ynez

So this weekend is the Santa Ynez Norba National. And if you're here, you know how shitty this course is. But if you're not, here's a little synopsis of the course. Dry, short climbs, bumpy. That's seriously the course. It's pretty similar to the course at Sonoma 2 years ago if you went to that race. So this course starts off and does a gay little loop and then starts up the first climb. It starts off shallow and then climbs up some steep single track. After about 5 minutes of climbing the first descent, and it's dry and bumpy and it's not real fun. The course seems like it used to be wet, but then this place had a drought and now the course is super dry. It's cracked and there are little ravines everywhere on the course to grab your tire and whip you on to your face. I guess thats what happens when frosty designs a course. Because he designed Sonoma too. I guess this course kinda works for me with short power climbs. But I've been in school studying so I've had about 5 days of riding for training for this race. So we'll see how it goes. The race is later today and 2 pm California time, so as I race there's gonna be sweat flowin like Niagra down my ass crack and balls. That's another problem here, is that theres sort of a heat wave comin through this weekend, so it's like 105 degrees with no wind and like 95-100 with a little breeze. So I've been drinking about 10 bottles of water a day. It's a bit ridiculous, coming from SLC, where it's been like 50 degrees and occasionally snowing, to have to now suffer in this brutal heat.
So XC is today, STXC is tomorrow and then I go back home for a day or somethin, and then I go to boulder to hang out with people that I miss, especially one in particular, you know who you are if you're readin this.
out.

Utah

So I'm back in the SLC. And riding now. I rode today with Mitch and Rob. I have some endurance, just I have no top end so I can't go fast up hill. I can go fast downhill though. Which is sweet, and fun.
Um, not really a lot to talk about, I'm just riding my bike tomorrow and the next days, and goin to santa Ynez this weekend for the NORBA. So That should be sweet. And I'm thinkin about racing sport downhill. Giant gave me a Trance this year, so mitch built it up free ride style. it's really fun.
done.

STUDY

Today is the first day of studying for me for my finals. I'm studying right now because I have a final tomorrow. And then I have sunday off where I should be tweaked out on adderall and studying for a good solid 12 straight hours. Give or take a couple of hours. Adderall works wonders on the studying.
I think I'm gonna take this week off the bike so I can do well on my finals and then once I'm done with finals, it's gonna be ride-mayhem. I should be able to ride everyday and start getting fast again. Collegiate Road Nationals are in 2 weeks so hopefully I'll be fast for those. If not, then I still have lots of time to get ready for mountain bike nationals in North Carolina Again.
So Got to get to studying.
